Button Nose trinket!!

I was at a gathering buffet lunch with relatives. There were exchanges of gifts to the kids, sort of like Christmas!
The most surprising thing that we received - is a trinket that came with a Hello Kitty gift.
It is a Button Nose trinket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How many years have Sanrio forgotten about Button Nose? With so many years of disappointment, I never thought Button Nose had a chance to return.
Now, with Sanrio's 50th Anniversary bringing out all the characters, Button Nose re-appear!!!
Please, Sanrio, please please please make Button Nose items. I am sure she will be loved!!

Princess Castle Decorating

We decorated this castle on Christmas Day's afternoon.
Everything in the Kit. Ready to go. No baking needed. (10)
In-progress. To do a better job with the icing, I use some plastic piping bags. I also made some white icing to add to the kit.
Done. I think it is pretty. I really like it!

Melody Doll by Anna
December 24th 2010, 10am - This doll arrived at my door!!
I can't believe it. It arrived right before Christmas. What a fabulous Christmas gift for myself. Haha!!
This doll is made by Anna Chambers. It is her impression of My Melody.
It came from the Sanrio 50th Anniversary Art Show in L.A.
Much bigger and cuter than in photos, I am surprised and happy.

Sanrio Pop-Up Tour (USA)
Sanrio Pop-Up Tour (USA)
To celebrate Sanrio's 50th anniversary, there is a Small Gift Mobile Pop-Up Shop Tour in the USA.
Starting on October 23rd 2010, the tour launched in San Francisco. It will end on December 10th in New York. It is essentially a truck bringing loads of exclusive Kitty goods to sell, and Hello Kitty will appear for photos. The merchandise are quite special and cute.
I am in Canada and they are not visiting us here. Nor could I fly to these pop-up tour locations. So wanted to go. Maybe another time.

Sanrio Ichigo Days (Strawberry Days)
いちご Days (Ichigo Days = Strawberry Days) Sept 2010 - Jan 2011
This is happening in Japan. Sanrio Japan teamed up with the Daimaru Shinsaibashi Store in Osaka to hold a special event called “Strawberry Days” at the beginning of September. This super cute exhibition displayed nostalgic Sanrio products as well as “Sweet Hello Kitty”, a yummy masterpiece made by Sweets Decoration Artist Osamu Watanabe!
The fun festivities will continue at the Daimaru Kyoto Store from November 3rd to November 16th and at the Matsuzakaya Nagoya store December 23rd to January 10th.

Golden Memories Sticker Set
I have the old one (year 1976) and the new one (year 2010).
Compared them. They are different............in many ways.
The old one is called "SEAL SET".
The new one is larger and is called "STICKER SET".
Stickers inside are different also. The new one also lacking a large sticker.
1976 version is made in Japan, 100yen.
2010 version is made in Japan, 420yen.

Golden Memories Large Melody Doll

So happy today. This big doll finally arrived.
マイメロディ 復刻ぬいぐるみ 30x27x40cm tall 3,990円
This is the Golden Memories Melody doll, the biggest one in the series.
I have a difficult time tracking one down. Maybe because it is big (expensive), not all stores order it from the supplier. I requested a HK shop to order for me, and it turned out that they receive no stock of this after 1 month. Anyways, I managed to get one somewhere now. So happy to open the box and see her arrive.
At the first sight, she didn't look very cute and cuddly. However, when I hold her and feel the texture, oh, all the memories of older dolls came back. It's magical. I love her.
They use the material similar to plush dolls made years ago. The outside look is not as "perfect" and "smooth" as recent dolls. But that's the exact way plush dolls used to be. It simply feels good to hold her. Nice big size too. Words can't describe how much I like this new dolly.
The actual doll is a lot more orangy (or peach) in color than her official picture.
If you are a Melody fans, I'd say, this doll is a MUST HAVE!!!

So, this is THE Christmas toy of the year 2010: Lalaloopsy Dolls
They have plastic head and limbs. Changeable clothes.
Personally I don't understand it, or simply, I don't like it.

My Melody (Build-A-Bear)

To celebrate Sanrio's 50th anniversary, Build-A-Bear Workshop has Sanrio dolls!!
There are Hello Kitty, Hawaiian Hello Kitty, My Melody, Chococat and Keroppi. Ok, these are the popular Sanrio dolls in USA. Their looks, very USA also, a tad different from the Japan version ones.
Last year (2009), they had Hello Kitty 35th anniversary doll, which is very pretty also, but no other Sanrio dolls.
Finally, finally, they have My Melody doll. Of course I am gonna make one!!!
I saw on the tag that they made 81,000 of Melody dolls. Each of them is numbered on the tag.
This is the very first Build-A-Bear doll I made. My mom made a bear one to me many years ago when she found this store in Vegas.
